Goodyear - Innovative and More Driven

The Goodyear Tire and rubber company was founded in 1898 by Frank Seiberling in Akron Ohio. The Company was named after Charles Goodyear who had invented the rubber vulcanizing process in 1844. Goodyear had experimented with heating rubber on a fabric belt followed by a chemical process to create pliable moldable rubber that is widely applied in the manufacture of rubber raincoats, rubber-soled shoes, and of course - tires.

Goodyear began producing bicycle and carriage tires at it's origin. The company began supplying Henry Ford with racing tires for his legendary racecar "999" in 1902. Impressed with the performance, Henry Ford started using Goodyear tires on the Model T in 1908 and Goodyear had become the world`s largest tire and rubber company by 1926 - 28 years after it`s founding. Goodyear formed an alliance with Sumitomo Rubber Industries in 1999 and has remained as the largest tire manufacturer since.
